About the concert

The "Radio Days" of the 1930s

An exciting visit back to the 1930s, to the days when the wireless (radio) was the soundtrack of everyday life.  Those were the days when Glenn Miller played ‘Moonlight Serenade’, Louis Armstrong produced hits like ‘When you’re Smilin' and Billie Holiday comforted our broken hearts with ‘Our Love is here to Stay’.

The "crowd favorite" of the Wall Street Journal, the singer with the soft and caressing voice, and one of the prominent singers in the early jazz scene in New York is Molly Ryan (USA) who will perform this golden age of American radio together with the six members of the band, Eli & The Chocolate Factory.  This will be a celebration of romance and nostalgia, of melodic and rhythmic music.

Molly Ryan can also be heard on HBO's Grammy Award-winning television series Boardwalk Empire.

Most of the ensemble performances and repertoire of "Eli & the Chocolate Factory” band are based on the rhythms and polyphonic music of New Orleans, with group improvisation and spontaneous playing.  Old blues songs, spirituals, love songs from the 1920s and Charleston dances from Chicago meet in a diverse and rich show of charismatic and colorful music that will probably remain forever, in other words the jazz of New Orleans and the 1920s.

Eli & the Chocolate Factory comprises Eli Preminger on trumpet, Amnon Ben Artzi on trombone, Jess Korn on saxophone, Ilan Smilan on banjo, Tal Cohen on double bass and Reni Birnbaum on drums.
