About the concert
Blues for Duke Ellington with the New Orleans All-Stars (New Orleans)
The music of New Orleans was a major inspiration on the works of Duke Ellington. Duke spent a large part of his career down in New Orleans. Several of his orchestra members, and especially Clarinetist Barney Bigard, an excellent player of New Orleans style Jazz, influenced Ellington's style with theirs.
On this special evening, New Orleans born Yolanda Robinson will perform from Ellington's most famous pieces, especially those rooted deep in New Orleans: "Mood Indigo", "Take the A Train", "It don't mean a thing" and more.
