About the concert

Ellington in the New Orleans Paradise with the South West Old-time All Stars (Berlin)

The music of Duke Ellington, as well as his band, were very influenced by the style of New Orleans. Ellington was ahead of the curve of swing, with known compositions such as "It ain't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing". Some of his band members even had a background in New Orleans style Jazz, such as Clarinetist Barney Bigard and trumpeter James "Bubber" Miley. In this show, the South West Old-time Allstars will perform hits like "Perdido", "Take the A Train" and "C Jam Blues" as well as other pieces notable for there New Orleans inspiration.
