About the concert

A Tribute to Benny Goodman & Billie Holiday

Award-winning clarinet king Felix Peikli, who has performed with Wayne Shorter, together with the wonderful singer, Tricia Boutté, a scion of the well-known artistic family from New Orleans, they will perform an exciting tribute to the King of Swing and the Queen of the Blues.

The clarinet player Benny Goodman is considered by many to be the "King of Swing". Already at a young age he founded an orchestra and began playing dance music for thousands of fans. In 1933, Benny Goodman's producer, John Hammond, heard Billie Holiday, who was only 18 years old at the time and was captivated by her voice and made the connection between her and Benny Goodman. Since then, despite stylistic differences (he played swing and she sang mainly blues), they performed many times together.

Felix Peikli, has been playing the clarinet since a young age. As a child, he received a Benny Goodman record from his grandfather, it caught his imagination and today he is already considered the "King of the Clarinet."

Despite his young age, Felix has won many awards and distinctions for his dedication and contribution to the clarinet and to music in general, including a full tuition scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music. After moving to New York, Felix collaborated and performed with notable artists such as Wayne Shorter, Danilo Perez, Joe Lubano, Ralph Peterson Jr., and Marcus Miller.

Having performed at famous venues such as the Blue Note, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, and at festivals and concerts around the world as a band leader, Felix is on a constant mission to spread joy and inspiration through his music. Felix has hosted many charity shows in collaboration with UNICEF, and serves as an ambassador and board member of 'Future Players', bringing musical education and musical instruments to children in poor areas of the world. Felix is the artistic director of the Norwegian Jazz Orchestra, music curator at Club Gustav at Hotel Amerikalinjen, and founder and CEO of Jazz Music Norway.

Tricia (Teedy) Boutté was born in New Orleans and is the daughter of a distinguished musical family in the city. In her youth she learned to play various instruments but was particularly drawn to singing. Studied under great artists like Alice Marsalis, Harry Connick, Ed Peterson, Steve Massakowski and Germaine Basel even before she was 18. She then began performing with New Orleans jazz legends such as Lloyd Lambert, Edward Frank, Fred Kemp and Joseph "Smokey" Johnson.  Her repertoire covers jazz, standards, R&B, pop, soul, gospel and Caribbean music.   Over the past few years, Teedy has had the pleasure of being on stage or in the studio with some of the biggest performers in the world such as; Ellen Toussaint, Alice Marsalis, Shannon Powell, Aretha Franklin, Irma Thomas, and Dr. John.
