About the concert

In the second decade of the twentieth century, Paris embraces for the first time the jazz that comes from New Orleans. Life in France attracts many American musicians to perform and even settle in France. The New Orleans style jazz meets the French chanson, and the newly created combination captivates listeners. Sidney Bechet, Josephine Baker, Edith Piaf are all pillars of the wonderful sound forged between New Orleans and Paris. Among other things, from the voice of the singer, actress, and dancer Nicolle Rochelle we will hear are: ‘C'est Si Bon’, ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’, ‘St James Infirmary’, ‘La Vie En Rose’ and more.

Nicolle Rochelle is a singer, dancer, and actress, who enchanted Paris when she appeared as Josephine Baker in Jerome Savary's show "Looking for Josephine". She has appeared, among other things, in the television show "The Cosby Family" and in the musical "Fame" on Broadway. As a child, she even appeared with Ringo Starr and the well-known actor Alan Alda.
