Rock Around the Clock
About the concert
Get ready to dance in your seats for a special night of boogie-woogie and rock 'n' roll! From the roots of the Black music of Memphis and Nashville grew the playful grandson called jazz, which is of course rock ‘n’ roll.
There is a deep connection between jazz and rock and roll, in which jazz, with its unique style of the "boogie", significantly influences the development of rock and roll. The improvisational nature of jazz, and the use of "blue notes" laid the foundation for the emergence of rock and roll. After World War II there was a significant development when guitars and electric instruments were introduced.
Artists such as Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry were inspired by jazz and R&B to create the distinctive sound of early rock and roll. Among the songs in the program are: ‘Johnny Be Good’, ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, ‘Hound Dog’ and more.
